Janinet, en av de mest nyskapande franska violinisterna i sin generation, hämtade inspiration från Dave Douglas Charms of the Night Sky (1998) – men där Douglas lutade sig tydligt mot jazztraditionen, rör sig Garden of Silences lika gärna mot barockens kontrapunkt, folkmusikens muntliga traditioner och arvet från minimalistiska kompositörer som Steve Reich och John Adams.

I kvartetten ingår tre finsmakarnamn från den europeiska musikscenen. Norske trumpetaren Arve Henriksen – vars trumpet ofta låter mer som en japansk shakuhachi-flöjt än som ett blåsinstrument. Dragspelaren Ambre Vuillermoz, solist med Ensemble Intercontemporain och Budapest Festival Orchestra. Och den tyske kontrabassisten Robert Lucaciu, Echo Jazz-pristagare och Kathrin Lemke-stipendiat.

Franska Jazz Magazine sammanfattade deras sound som: oändligt lätt och absolut kraftfullt på en gång. Dave Douglas, vars album inspirerade projektet, kallade det helt enkelt "beautiful".
